David and Laurie Kutina

Yn Y Coed is pronounced “un uh coid,” which is Welsh for “in the woods.” The name pays homage to the many influences in Dave’s work, including his Welsh ancestry.
Wood Working
Dave Kutina’s woodturnings and furniture are created in his workshop “in the woods” of West Falls, New York. Many of the turned pieces are created from wood of trees which were downed in storms and destined for a landfill or a fireplace. Each piece is unique, crafted to bring out the personality and character found “In TheWood.”
Artistry
Laurie Kutina has been drawing and painting since before she could write – her favorite page of any coloring book was the blank inside cover. The inspiration and subjects for her Lily water color prints came from the beautiful gardens of our mother and mother-in-law.
Laurie and Dave met at the University at Buffalo, where they acquired an amazing circle of friends and master’s of architecture degrees, which surprisingly, they use every day in their jobs of environmental scientist (Laurie) and teacher (Dave).
