Mission Guild Studio, located in the Historical Leatherstocking Region of New York, is a "Quaint" dual artisan studio specializing in a revival and renewal of Arts & Crafts era ideals. The studio is owned and operated by Christie A. Schorf-Miller and James M. Miller, a diverse artisan/craftsman team working solo as well as collaborating on the next level of Mission and Arts and Crafts in America. James M. Miller studied at both the New York School of Interior Design and the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City; with a concentration in Design. Christie A. Schorf-Miller received her Bachelors Degree in Art History, from the State University of New York at Oneonta, with a concentration in Sculpture and Design and an honorable Phi Theta Kappa Associates Degree from Cazenovia College in Cazenovia, New York; with a concentration in Commercial Art and Illustration.

 

 



Learn About The Roycrofters Christie A. Schorf-Miller & James M. Miller have been individually awarded the designation of "Roycroft Renaissance Artisan". The history of Roycroft dates back to 1906. This designation of Roycroft Artisan includes the privilege of using the Historical and Highly Collectable Roycroft Renaissance Mark on their creations. Christie has received the Roycroft Renaissance Mark for her outstanding work in both Clay and Stained Glass & James has received the Roycroft Renaissance Mark for his outstanding work in Wood.


Dragonfly tileWith a strong passion and established philosophy of “Forward Thinking in the Craftsman Tradition” this artisan guild offers both traditional and unique furnishings and décor. James and Christie specialize in multi-mediums such as Rare Hardwoods, Clay, Stained and Leaded Glass, Painting, and Copper to name a few... individually they each bring you over 20+ years of experience in the arts and design. Influenced and Inspired by the Arts & Crafts movement many of the Mission Guild tiles are created with the same hand crafting methods used by both Ernest Batchelder and Moravian.  Our Furniture Offerings and Hand Crafted Décor are unique to the Mission Guild Studio with inspirations’ drawn from many of the early masters such as Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Limbert, Roycroft, Charles Rohlfs, Ernest Gimson, Gustav Stickley, etc.
Stained Glass is created using the historic Tiffany copper foil technique.

"Our offerings are each individually Artisan Designed and Handcrafted here in our Studio, rather than factory mass produced. We offer a variety of Exclusive - One Time Only - Artisan Creations with Limited Availability through our Shows, Exhibits, Galleries and Auctions. On rare occasion we may also choose to implement outside artisan works into our furnishings and décor.”
