he Roycroft Campus Corporation is pleased to serve teachers and students as part of its mission. We will work with you to plan an enjoyable and educational visit that fits into your school curriculum.
Tours of the Campus include information touching on the arts, literature, business and history of the United States at the turn of the 19th to 20th century, many of the ideas and philosophies of Elbert Hubbard still resonant in today's society. For younger students a scavenger hunt can be incorporated into the tour.
Activities can also be included into your visit. A few examples are, students could create and bind their own book or journal to be used back in the classroom; see and participate in a demonstration of a printing press; learn about calligraphy and illuminate their initials into a colorful and elaborate design; or work with an artisan and learn the basics of metalwork.
Here are a few comments from past school tours:
"So many helped the children enjoy a very special day filled to the brim with learning. They experienced hands on art activities that they were very proud to take home. They were treated with genuine respect and caring, with a lot of adult attention that made them feel very special and privileged for the day."
- Buffalo Public School Art Teacher
"Wow! When I get old I'm gonna remember this place!!!"
- 4th grade Buffalo Student
"The students travelled out of their city neighborhoods to a land they at first seemed to think was make-believe. The staff welcomed them with so much knowledge about the history of the campus and printing and how it relates with today's technology."
- Buffalo Public School Teacher
"Thank you for going out of your way to show us such a special place and for stamping us with memories and experiences we will never forget!!"
- Fredonia Central School Art Teacher
