Tt has become a goal of the Roycroft Campus to reach out to the education community and begin a collaboration with them. How can we fill the needs or offer educational resources for teachers? Can we help develop partnerships with educators and artisans? Can we offer classroom support or instructors? Here are a few of the options that we have to offer as we continue to expand our educational outreach.

Lesson Plans, Kits and Educational Resources

The Roycroft Campus has recently collaborated with PBS on a document about Elbert Hubbard and the Arts and Crafts Campus that he built. The document Elbert Hubbard: An American Original is conveniently available to be streamed through their website at http://www.pbs.org/wned/elbert-hubbard/index.php.

An Educator's Guide was also developed containing lesson plans dealing with the multiple themes explored in Elbert Hubbard: An American Original, offering an educational opportunity for your classroom in multiple subject areas. The Educator's Guide and lessons are conveniently available to be viewed through the following url on the PBS website: http://www.pbs.org/wned/elbert-hubbard/for-educators.php.

We look to continue working with the educational community to expand this lesson database and develop school kits that schools can borrow. We will also be continuing to develop primary source materials, such as photographs and maps, which teachers can use in their classrooms.

School Tours

Tours of the Campus include information touching on the arts, literature, business and history of the United States at the turn of the 19th to 20th century, many of the ideas and philosophies of Elbert Hubbard still resonant in today's society. For younger students a scavenger hunt can be incorporated into the tour.

Activities can also be included into your visit. A few examples are, students could create and bind their own book or journal to be used back in the classroom; see and participate in a demonstration of a printing press; learn about calligraphy and illuminate their initials into a colorful and elaborate design; or work with an artisan and learn the basics of metalwork. Special Events

As the Roycroft Campus continues to expand its programming we are looking to include and highlight students in our events, sharing their talents (musical, artistic, written, etc.) to the region.

Professional Development

The Campus is also continuing to expand it educational outreach to the professional level, giving professional development workshops on technology and using media and primary source information in the classroom. This pass summer we held a two day seminar on Adobe software instruction.
