ROYCROFT CAMPUS CORPORATION

Title:  Program Director

Summary:   Responsible for designing and implementing educational programs to include
but not limited to: classes and workshops, demonstrations, tours, art shows, book signings, lectures, performing arts and
conferences. Coordinates the Roycroft Campus volunteer program.

Reports To:  Executive Director

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING

  1. Develop, plan, coordinate and implement a variety of programs and events based on the history of Roycroft and the
    educational strategic plan.  This includes developing a broad program strategy that allows for an integration of a
    variety of programs.
    1. Hires appropriate program/course instructors and evaluates their acceptability as an instructor
    2. Works with instructors/Artisans to identify potential courses/programs for the development of the annual schedule
    3. Tailors programs to various ages and groups
    4. Establishes outreach programs
    5. Perpetuates artisan programs

  2. Develops and nurtures relationships that will foster the educational mission of Roycroft Campus Corporation (RCC). 
    Keeps Executive Director informed of all activities prior to acting and reports on continuing cultivation efforts.  Activities
    should include but not be limited to:
    1. Building relationships with academic institutions to enhance the quality of programs
    2. Partnering with other cultural sites
    3. Develop working relationships with local, regional, national and international organizations
    4. Acts as an ambassador to participants and faculty members
    5. Strengthens partnerships with the Roycroft artisans

  3. Creates and monitors policies, procedures and evaluation tools to support educational programming.  Activities should
    include but not be limited to:

    1. Administering course selection process
    2. Scheduling classroom space and logistics
    3. Preparing and effectively promoting an annual calendar of programs
    4. Implementing a clear communication plan to support participants, staff, and faculty
    5. Evaluating programs for quality, effectiveness and participant satisfaction; revise as necessary
    6. Ensuring quality participant service through the registration process
    7. Developing marketing strategies for programs and activities

  4. Develop an annual RCC program budget.

  5. Produces and distributes course information for catalogs, brochures, flyers, and on-line.
    1. Establish a compilation of resources

  6. Be able to demonstrate thorough knowledge of the history of Elbert Hubbard and the Roycrofters as well as the Roycroft
    businesses.

  7. Incorporate volunteer services to assist with programming.

  8. Works in conjunction with the Director of Development to coordinate grant research and writing for educational program
    funding.

  9. Meets with the Education Committee, as needed, to update and evaluate progress; solicit ideas and recommendations.

  10. Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

 

VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

  1. Manages the RCC volunteer program which includes:
    1. Maintaining the quality of volunteer recruitment to include screening, interviewing and selection
    2. Maintaining the quality of the volunteer training program
    3. Performing regular reviews of the volunteer job descriptions
    4. Coordinating volunteer schedules
    5. Providing staff training regarding the role of volunteers
    6. Providing volunteers with feedback, evaluation and recognition as well as certification of volunteer involvement for
      high school students. 
    7. Maintaining necessary documentation of hours worked on an annual and lifetime basis.

  2. Regularly reviews and revises the annual volunteer plan.
    1. Seeks to find a volunteer coordinator who can share responsibilities for program management.

  3. Maintains communications with community agencies, parent groups, and other local and county organizations in the interest
    of ongoing volunteer recruitment.

  4. Provide monthly status reports to the Executive Director.

  5. Develop and maintain an annual volunteer budget.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  1. A Bachelor’s Degree in liberal arts, business administration or education with a minimum of three to five years related
    experience.
  2. Experience supervising and working with staff and volunteers.
  3. A proven track record in developing, planning and implementing multi-faceted, creative programming. 
  4. Self-motivation, excellent verbal (public speaking) and written communication and presentation skills.
  5. The ability to organize and handle a demanding multi-tasking environment.
  6. Must be highly organized and results oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks and work well under pressure. 
  7. Must possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills that stress relationship building for collaborative/committee work
    and understand the need for respecting others.
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, related software and use of the Internet.
  9. Ability to work evenings and weekends.
  10. Requires access to a vehicle and a valid driver’s license.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Experience in grant writing would be helpful in this position.
  2. Experience in working with academic institutions in program development.
  3. Ability to develop budgets.
