with Artist, Lisa Ballowe

The history of beadwork goes back several thousand years and is frequently found on ceremonial clothing in archeological sites throughout Europe, Africa, and Native American cultures. This is a great beginner class that will teach you the process of this ancient art of bead embroidery.
Students will receive step by step instructions on how to sew on beads to “capture” or embezzle a Cabochon. A variety of cabochons will be available to choose from. By the end of class, students will have completed a pendant of their own. No prior experience is necessary. This class will help in creating the foundation for future bead embroidery classes. PLEASE NOTE: This class will be required before moving on to more advanced beading workshops.
Students will receive a kit which includes a cabochon, beading medium, Ultrasuede, beads, needle, and thread. Instructions will be handed out in class. Students are highly recommended to bring magnification (reading) glasses, scissors, and a portable light if possible. Some materials: beading mats and lights will be available for use but remain property of the instructor. Lunch will not be supplied. Please feel free to bring a bagged lunch or something to snack on..
