Exploratory Chinese Ink & Watercolor Landscape Painting – September 29, 2024

Exploratory Chinese Ink & Watercolor Landscape Painting
with Artist, Jennifer Koury
Sunday, September 29th, from 2:00pm – 5:00pm
The Roycroft Campus – 21 South Grove St. East Aurora, NY
Chinese painting is one of the oldest continuous artistic traditions in the world. Traditional painting involves essentially the same techniques as calligraphy and is done with a brush dipped in black ink or colored pigment. Landscape painting was (and still is) regarded as the highest form of Chinese painting. In this class we will be inspired and explore this traditional form of art.
Enjoy a several step process of building layered values and textures of ink line and ink washes on rice paper, then develop your composition with the addition of watercolor washes and white paint to discover a Chinese inspired landscape composition. Compositional structure, spacing, line quality and control of value washes will be explored. All supplies and tools are provided.
