Foundations in Drawing and Understanding Form workshop

3-Day Workshop on Sundays, November 5th, 12th & 19th from 1:00pm – 4:00pm

The Roycroft Campus – 21 South Grove St. East Aurora, NY

Journey into drawing using dark and light values to create forms and shapes. Explore varied techniques including mark making and line quality variation, while learning foundational drawing skills based on form and shadow. Develop a fundamental understanding of planes on forms, and light cast on forms, including highlights, form shadows, and the resulting cast shadows. Upon completion, participants are encouraged to continue their personal drawing journey to build upon their learned drawing skills.

Jennifer Koury is a Buffalo-based artist, freelance illustrator, and arts educator. She holds degrees in painting and printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University and Art Center College of Design, California and has been teaching at various Art Centers around the area.

Koury is represented by Meibohm Fine Arts, East Aurora, NY. She has exhibited her paintings in both solo and group shows around the region, and won awards, including being finalist in the Chautauqua Annual Exhibition of Contemporary Art. Her art is featured in the NFWS Mary Whyte Gallery Walk video, George Washington’s Mount Vernon Visitor Center in Virginia, and Yuma Regional Medical Center in Arizona, and her illustrations have appeared in many children’s books. She is a member of the Buffalo Society of Artists, and a signature member of the Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society.
