Enjoy festive company and a chance to use a press in the historic Roycroft Print Shop. Create your own card or small poster print for the holidays. A linocut is a printmaking technique, a variant of woodcut in which a sheet of linoleum is used for a relief surface. A design is cut into the linoleum surface with a sharp knife, V-shaped chisel or gouge. The raised areas are then inked and pressed to paper to create a print.

Bring a 4” x 6” design that will take about 3 hours to carve or use one of the available templates. You may also add a pre-made holiday message from the historic type in the press room. This class gives you a chance to dip your toe in both block printing and letterpress, coming away with an original work of art.

All tools provided including carving tools, linoblocks, ink, paper as well as the Poco Press in the Roycroft Print Shop. Paper will be supplied for up to ten prints per person. You are welcome to bring your own paper if it is certified for block printing. Carving takes some endurance and uses sharp tools and is therefore appropriate for ages 16 and up. We encourage you to bring a bagged lunch, light snacks and beverages will be available. You are also welcome to bring your own linocut tools and knife-cutting gloves.

Necole has haunted the Illumination Studio and Press Room in the Roycroft Print Shop and crafting her way from apprentice to master since 2014. Committed to art that empowers communities, she is currently in the throes of designing and producing a booklet in the Arts & Crafts’ spirit. Visit her and tour the Press Room every Saturday from 11-4.

Class Tuition: $60 + $5 Supplies = Total $65
Registration is required and seating is limited. (Max. of 8 students). This workshop is open to those ages 16 – adult
