Learn to Weave class – January 13, 2024

Learn to Weave
with Roycroft Campus Artist, Janet Nye Vedder
Saturday, January 13th from 10:00am – 2:00pm
The Roycroft Campus – 21 South Grove St. East Aurora, NY
Weaving is a centuries-old practice of interlacing yarn or thread together to make woven pieces of fabric. Once you Learn to Weave, you will be able to create textiles, wall hangings, tapestries, rugs, baskets, and jewelry. In this class students will learn about the materials and supplies used for this art form. Individuals will learn how to begin weaving on a loom (which you can keep), and how to create a variety of weaving patterns as they make a 6” by 11” artwork.
All tools and supplies will be provided including a variety of yarns and a small loom which you can take with you. Students are encouraged to bring some of their own yarns if they would like. Please feel free to bring a beverage and/or something to snack on.
Janet Nye Vedder has experience as a graphic artist, product illustrator, and art educator. With a Masters in Education and twenty-two years of experience teaching art, she looks forward to teaching a variety of art classes on the Roycroft Campus.
As a Roycroft Campus Artist-in-Residence, Janet currently has a studio in the Roycroft Print Shop where she creates her artwork. Janet works primarily in watercolor and Chinese brush painting; however, she has a strong background in fiber arts and collage.
