Plein Air Weaving – July 15 & 22 (To Rent)

Plein Air Weaving
with Artist, Tami Fuller
2-Day Workshop on Mondays, July 15th & 22nd from 6:00pm – 8:30pm
The Roycroft Campus – 21 South Grove St. East Aurora, NY
Learn to Weave, ground down and take over the Great Lawn on the Roycroft Campus for a two-class Learn to Weave series. This in-depth weaving series for beginners and intermediate students with basic knowledge is designed for those who want to learn to weave and use it as an art of modern expression while still being rooted in foundations of high craft.
Learn the building blocks of weaving, including warping, materials, tools and basic techniques, then upgrade these basic skills and learn how to use tapestry weaving and appropriate use of color to create interest. Students will learn how to weave tabby, rya and twining to create a modern tapestry based on the shapes and colors of East Aurora that retain a physical memory of your time on the grounds. This is a “learn the rules to break the rules” workshop, which will teach the necessary fundamentals of weaving as a jumping off for free-form expression while enjoying outside learning.
All supplies will be provided including warp, tool kit, weaving materials, and a Handmade Tapestry Loom made by Lost Pond Looms, a local artisan maker of world-renowned weaving equipment. In addition to working with materials provided, students will also learn best practices for incorporating foraged materials and botanicals into their work.
