What is Collage? A Collage is a form of visual arts in which elements are combined to create a new image that conveys a message or idea. It comes from the French word “collér,” which means “to glue,” often the primary means of combining images in collage art. In this class you will learn about design, composition, what glues and materials work best together, as well as different mediums and gels that work to enhance your art. Students should bring photos (copies) of people or places, any papers (from magazines, wrapping papers, printed napkins, etc.) they would like to incorporate in their artwork. We will be working in our first class on a mat board that is 11×14 in size.
March 4, 2023 – we will work on design and composition
March 11, 2023 – we will introduce handmade papers, fabric, and metal pieces
March 18, 2023 – we will introduce mediums which will enhance your designs
The instructor will provide different glues, handmade and painted papers, mat boards, and a variety of embellishments (including jewelry, beads, colored wires), paint, brushes, paper towels, and different mediums (such as fibers, glass beads, and heavy modeling paste). Lunch will not be supplied. Please feel free to bring a bagged lunch or something to snack on.
Paulette Krakowski has over 40 years of experience as a graphic artist, art director, instructor, and gallery owner. In 2022 she became a Juried Artist of the Arts & Craftsmen Guild of the Roycroft Campus in watercolor and colored pencil.
