Roycroft Campus Adult Summer Camp Offerings & Schedule

July 24th & 25th, 2026 | 8:30am-4:30pm

Welcome to a different kind of summer camp, designed for adults who are looking for a simple, restorative break this summer. Explore creative workshops hosted by local artists. Make something with your hands and spend time with people you’ll be glad you met. Along the way, enjoy a shared lunch, light refreshments, and a simple movement activity to help you slow down and reconnect – with yourself and the joy of making something by hand. You don’t need to be an artist. You don’t need experience. Just a bit of curiosity and a sense of “why not?”

Come for one day or stay for both. Leave with something you made and a story you’ll carry with you.

Camp Registration

Our inaugural Adult Summer Camp is a two-day immersive experience from 9:00am to 4:30pm. Campers can sign up for individual days at $200, or both days for $350. Each day includes three sessions of workshops, lunch, and time to reflect and stretch. An optional Campus Tour at the end of the day, is included with the registration. You will be directed at the bottom of the registration page to select how many campers you wish to enroll, and if you want the full two-day experience or the one-day experience on either Friday or Saturday.

Registration for the Roycroft Campus Adult Summer Camp Experience is now closed. If you’d like to be placed on a waiting list for openings or future “camp” experiences please send a quick message to anowicki@roycroftcampuscorp.com

Camp Offerings

BOOKBINDING 1: A Roycroft Journal - Alan Nowicki

The Roycroft Campus was founded on printing and bookbinding, and since then Book Arts has expanded into its own art form with hundreds of different structures. In this workshop participants will learn to how to make a single stitch pamphlet structure. The same binding Roycrofters used to make their Philistine magazine. Campers will create a faux-leather covered journal that they can use to help tell their story.

BOOKBINDING 2: Concertina of Life - Alan Nowicki

The Roycroft Campus was founded on printing and bookbinding, and since then Book Arts has expanded into its own art form with hundreds of different structures. In this workshop participants will learn to make a concertina book structure (also known as an accordion book), along with variations. The approach will be focused around an abecedarian book as we explore a unique way to tell our own story.

MOVEMENT & REFLECTION: Tai Chi - Maria Czechowski

In the midst of a full and inspiring day, take time to slow down, reconnect, and return to what matters most. This gentle experience combines mindful movement inspired by Tai Chi and Qigong with breathwork, sound, and meditation. Guided by principles of balance, harmony, and presence, participants will explore simple flowing movements that help release tension, improve circulation, and foster a sense of ease in both body and mind.

Together, we will begin by setting a personal intention, move through an accessible sequence of standing practices, and conclude with a restorative sound bath, breath meditation, and quiet reflection. Designed for all levels and abilities, this session offers an opportunity to cultivate clarity, resilience, and inner stillness amidst the creativity and community of Summer Camp.

No prior experience is needed.

PHOTOGRAPHY 2: Mobile Darkroom (Cyanotype) - Brandon Watson

PLAY & VALUES: The Stories We Build - Adam Scheldt

Play is one of the most effective and powerful ways that we learn, explore, and grow as human beings. In this workshop, we use everyone’s favorite interlocking bricks as an unexpected tool for self-discovery. You’ll build, reflect, and explore — and you just might be surprised what shows up when your hands are busy. As your creation takes shape, you may discover stories, values, and perspectives that are often difficult to access through words alone. Whether you consider yourself creative or not, this experience meets you exactly where you are. No experience with building, art, or self-reflection is required, just come ready to play.  You will leave knowing yourself, and your story, a little better.

PRINTING: Letter By Letter - Necole Witcher

Get a taste of being a Roycrofter at the turn of the 20th century. Learn the basics of forming a design, typesetting and printing on original machinery. Many have compared this to a meditative experience as individuals work with both right and left halves of their brain to explore their creative and mechanical sides. Depending on time, we will also explore painting printed material using techniques mastered by those that helped make the Roycroft famous. Space is very limited but there are multiple opportunities to participate.

STORYTELLING: Designing Your Memoir - Rick Ohler

If you’ve wanted to gather stories of your life or your ancestors’ adventures into a memoir or family history but didn’t know how to start, join me for this 90-minute exploration. We’ll look at examples of the many ways to go about it from my years of guiding and encouraging writers. You’ll have a chance to experiment with a few formats to see what feels right for you. I’ll provide a resource guide to take with you. Writers of all experience levels are welcome.

WRITING: Responding to Prompts for Writing Inspiration - Rick Ohler

Prompts can offer avenues to get even the most hesitant writers going. With prompts there are no wrong answers, no one right way to respond. Prompts can pull thoughts from within or provide jumping off points to go in a completely different—and often unexpected and welcome—direction.  We’ll experiment with a few prompts during our time together, and you’ll leave with a list of prompts to try on your own. Writers of all experience levels are welcome.

Camp Schedule

Camp goers get to choose their own adventure prior to the start of camp. Some offerings have limited space, but may have multiple opportunities to participate.
