Nuno-Felted Vessel class

with Artist, Suzanne O’Brien
Saturday, October 8th from 10:00am – 5:00pm

The Roycroft Campus – 21 South Grove St. East Aurora, NY

Looking for a new art form to try this year? Wet felting is the process by which wool, warm water, soap and agitation are used to create a non-woven felted fabric. These are the key ingredients for a highly creative afternoon! Join us as we explore the possibilities of wet felting techniques and create a unique luminary vessel for your home.

Felting can be repetitive and labor intensive. Special felting tools will be available to try, and different rolling techniques/modifications will be discussed to ensure success for everyone. Felting can be wet and soapy at times. Students should wear appropriate clothing and be prepared to have some ‘good clean fun’.

Other materials students will need to bring are 3-4 old bath towels and a plastic bag to bring wet towels and project home. Lunch is not supplied. Please feel free to bring a snack or a bagged lunch.

Suzanne O’Brien is an award winning fiber artist and creates handmade wool felt gift items and accessories for her business, ‘ZanieCrafts’. She enjoys working with fine wool and silk fibers and uses the magical process of wet felting to make her ideas come to life. Suzanne enjoys creating with a lot of color, and likes to include reclaimed, recycled, and found items into her work whenever possible. A selection of Suzanne’s felt work, accessories and prints can be found at the Roycroft Copper Shop.
